USEPA Enforcement Priorities
The USEPA does have set priorities for its enforcement programs. If you have ever wondered what they were, here are the current priorities, both nationally and for Region VI. Air
- Reducing Air Pollution from the Largest Sources
- Cutting Hazardous Air Pollutants
Energy Extraction
- Ensuring Energy Extraction Activities Comply with Environmental Laws
Hazardous Chemicals
- Reducing Pollution from Mineral Processing Operations
Water
- Keeping Raw Sewage and Contaminated Stormwater Out of Our Nation’s Waters
- Preventing Animal Waste from Contaminating Surface and Ground Water

Air Enforcement
- 112r Risk Management Plans
- 112r General Duty Clause
- Flares
RCRA Hazardous Waste Enforcement
- Non-permitted facilities receiving HW
- TSDs receiving HW they are not permitted to receive
- Unpermitted facilities land applying HW
Water Enforcement
• Widespread Use of Minor Wastewater Collection & Treatment Systems (Package Plants)
• Clean Drinking Water
• Proper Management of Brine Spills from Oil & Gas Operations
